Out last week was an outstanding mix tape by montreal producer Tor, who paired a bunch of Sufjan Stevens instrumentals with a selection of hip hop jams. The whole tape is up for free download from the dudes website, and for all you budding producers out is a great lesson in the ways of the mash-up. Real cool stuff. [More]

More Montreal to surface recently was the Jeremy Gara (under his Fingers moniker) remix of The Acorn's folktastic Crooked Legs. Gara in his spare time drums with a little band called Arcade Fire but here takes a different direction from his most well known work, throwing the original track completely out the window to land us an ethereal, dreamy, percussive kind of groove.

Also, everyone should go check out the new Whitest Boy Alive album which also officially dropped last week. Another strong collection of sweetly struck accoustica from Erland and the boys, first deliveries of the German outfit's second LP Rules have been selling like hot cakes, so much so that i managed to pinch the last copy set aside for the manager of my local record store.
One of the standout jams Island was put up for free download a few weeks ago, have a listen then buy it for real!
